4.1Preparation&InspectionbeforeTesting
4.1.1PreparationofSampleSurface
PreparationforsamplesurfaceshouldconformtotherelativerequirementintheAppendixTable3.
●Inthepreparationprocessingforsamplesurface,thehardnesseffectofbeingheatedorcoldprocessingonthesurfaceofsampleshouldbeavoided.
●Toobigroughnessofthebeingmeasuredsurfacecouldcausemeasureerror.So,thesurfaceofthesampletobemeasuredmustappearmetallicluster,smoothingandpolish,withoutoilstain.
●Supportoftestsample.Supportisnonecessaryforheavysample.Medium-weightpartsmustbesetonthesmoothingandstableplane.Thesamplemustsetabsolutelyequabilityandwithoutanywobble.
●Curvedsurface:
Thebesttestingsurfaceofsampleisflat.WhenthecurvatureradiusRofthesurfacetobetestedissmallerthan30mm(D,DC,D+15,C,EandDLtypeofimpactdevice)andsmallerthan50mm(Gtypeofimpactdevice),thesmallsupportringortheshapedsupportringsshouldbechosen.
●Thesampleshouldhaveenoughthickness,minimumthicknessofsampleshouldconformtoTable3.
●Forthesamplewithhardenedlayeronsurface,thedepthofhardenedlayershouldconformtoTable3.
●Coupling.Light-weightsamplemustbefirmlycoupledwithaheavybaseplate.Bothcoupledsurfacemustbeflatandsmooth,andthereisnoredundantcouplingagentexisting.Theimpactdirectionmustbeverticaltothecoupledsurface.Whenthesampleisabigplate,longrodorbendingpiece,itcanbedeformedandbecomeunstable,eventhoughitsweightandthicknessisbigenough,andaccordingly,thetestvaluemaynotbeaccurate.Sothesampleshouldbereinforcedorsupportedatitsback.

Note:
Useacalibratedhardnesstester,testthestandardtestblockdownwardverticallyfor5times,thearithmeticalaveragevaluecomparewiththevalueofstandardtestblock.Ifthisvalueexceedsthestandardvalue,couldusethefunctionofsoftwarecalibrationtoadjusting.
Verificationofthetesterisbyusingstandardtestblock.TheerrorandrepeatabilityofdisplayedvalueshouldbewithintheregulationofAppendixtable2.
4.2.1Start-Up
●Inserttheplugoftheimpactdeviceintothesocketofimpactdeviceonthetester.
●Press【
】key,nowpowerisconnected.Theinstrumentisintestingcondition.
4.2.2Loading
Pushingtheloading-tubedownwardsuntilcontactisfelt.Thenallowittoslowlyreturntothestartingpositionorusingothermethodlockingtheimpactbody.
4.2.3Localization
Presstheimpactdevicesupportingringonthesurfaceofthesamplefirmly,theimpactdirectionshouldbeverticaltothetestingsurface.
4.2.4Testing
●Pressthereleasebuttonontheupsideoftheimpactdevicetotest.Thesampleandtheimpactdeviceaswellastheoperatorareallrequiredtobestablenow.Theactiondirectionshouldpasstheaxisoftheimpactdevice.
