comedies,tragedies,andhistories.Manyofthecomediesinvolvedmistakenidentities,womenpretendingtobemen,andslapstick(闹剧,趣剧)situations.OneofhisfamouscomediesisAMidsummerNight'sDream.Shakespeare'stragediesoftenwereaboutanobleandhonorablemanwhohadonefaultthathelpedbringabouthisdownfall.Hamletisanexample.Shakespeare'shistorieswereusuallyaboutkingsofEngland,suchasRichardIIIorHenryV.
