摘要
本文是一篇关于小说英译的翻译实践报告。
威尔斯是近代杰出的小说家。
毕业于皇家理学院。
任教于伦敦大学,其中,Youcannotbetoocareful作品真情实意。
是他的一部经典之作,通读这本书的时候,对笔者有很大的教育意义,并且对笔者的人生观有着重大的指导意义。
而且本书据有较重的乡土气息,更能锻炼我对文章背景的理解。
本报告分为四个部分,第一个部分是报告背景,包括其来源、意义、研究现状、结构。
而第二部分则是原作背景介绍,包括有作者简介、主要内容、对原文的分析。
第三部分关于实践过程,主要是译前准备工作、翻译难点分析及奈达功能对等理论的介绍与应用。
第四部分是笔者的总结,主要包括有在翻译过程中的心得体会、得到的启示教训。
在该报告中,译者用尤金奈达的功能翻译理论作为主要理论支撑,同时结合自身的翻译实践经验,采用了多种翻译技巧。
希望该报告为此类文本的翻译提供借鉴意义。

Abstract
Thisisatranslationreportofprose.Wellsisanoutstandingnovelistinmoderntimes.HeisgraduatedfromtheRoyalAcademyofsciences.AtUniversityofLondon,YouCannotBeTooCarefulistherealthing.ItistheclassicofWells,throughreadingofthebook,ithasgreateducationalsignificanceontheauthor,andhasamajorguidingsignificanceontheauthor’soutlookonlife.Moreover,thisbookhasastronglocalflavor,butalsomoreexercisemyunderstandingofthebackgroundofthearticle..Themaincontentofthisreportisdividedintofourparts:
ChapterOneisthebackgroundofthisreport,includingorigin,significance,researchsituationandstructure.ChapterTwoisthebackgroundofthesourcetext,includingthewriter,maincontentandanalysisofsourcetext.ChapterThreeisthetranslationprocess,whichincludespreparationsbeforetranslation,analysisoftranslationdifficulties,theintroductionofNida’sFunctionalEquivalenceTheoryanditsapplication.ChapterFourisconclusion,includingenlightenmentsandlessonslearnedfromthewholeprocessofcompletingthisreport.Inthisreport,Nida’sFunctionalEquivalenceTheoryisthemaintheoreticalsupport.Meanwhile,varioustranslationskillsareusedbytheauthorwithtranslationexperience.Itishopedthatthisreportcanprovideareferenceforfuturetranslationofsimilarprose.

1.1Sourceofreports
HerbertGeorgeWellswasborninKentinSeptember21,1866August13,1946Bromley,diedinLondonattheageofeighty.Wellswasafar-reachingandprestigioussocialactivist,novelist,sociologist,historianandscientistintheearlytwentiethCentury.Wells'screativetalentisinmanyways,hehaspublishedonehundredandtenbooks,publishedmorethan500articles,besidesnovels,isalsoinvolvedinvariousfieldsofsocialscience,history,etc..However,Wells'smostoutstandingachievementcamefromhissciencefiction.BernardBergonzialsobelievesthat"themoreentertainingscientificlegendsofWellsinnineteenthCenturyrepresenthishighestachievement."
Wells'sliterarycreationbeganattheendofthenineteenthCentury,andwasevenmorefamousintheearlytwentiethCentury.Hiscreationcanberoughlydividedintothreestagesaccordingtothecategoryofhisworks.Thefirststageisfromthebeginningofthecreationuntil1900,worksinsciencefiction;thesecondstageisfrom1900to1910,thisperiodmainlysocialsatire,fullyembodieshisrealistictendencyafter1910;forthethirdstage,theworkisoftencalledthe"explanationofthenovels"."ItisnecessaryforanyonetodiscussEnglishnovels,anditisnecessarytomentionhiscontribution."Inthefieldofsciencefiction,WellsisnotonlythefounderofBritishsciencefiction,butalsoagreatmasterofsciencefictionwithgreatworldinfluence.AsAmericansciencefictionwriterJamesGensaid,heistherealoriginatorofmodernsciencefiction.WalterAlan,afamousBritishliterarycommentator,hashighlypraisedhiminhisEnglishnovel.
1.2SignificanceoftheReport
Forthetranslatorspersonally,thetranslationofsocialsurveyreportsisanewattempt.Usuallycontactmorethanprose,novels,etc.oftenexpositorycontactstyle,tocontactthisarticleontherigorousparticipatoryactionresearcharticlesinthebeginning,becausetheresearchmethodsinthispaperrelatestoeducationandanalysis,statisticalprincipleandmethods,theuseofstatisticalmethodstoexplainproblemsisdeficiencyofthetranslatorusuallylearnanduse,sothetranslatorinthebeginningalmostimpossibletostart.Throughthistranslationpractice,thetranslatornotonlyaddsalotofknowledgeaboutparticipatoryactionresearch,butalsoexploresthecharacteristicsofthetranslationofsocialsurveyreport,whichisanewbreakthroughinthepracticeofselftranslation.

ManchesterUniversityPress,1961)inthebookemphasizesthesymbolismfeaturesintheworksofWells,saidhisworknotonlyhasavividplotandrichimage,andwithallegoricalovertones.Inthebook"TheLanguageofFiction"(RoutledgeandKeganPaul,1966),DavidLodge,acontemporaryBritishnovelistandcommentator,exploresindetailthecharacteristicsofWells'snovelsinlanguagearts.RobertBloom,aBritishcriticandtheorist,reassessedtheartisticvalueofWells'sworksinAReadingof"TheLastNovelofH.G.Wells"(the1977).Itispredictedthatitwillattractworldwideattentioninthefuture.HillegasMarkR.,anAmericanliterarycritic,explorestheantiUtopiancharacteristicsofWells'searlynovelsinthebook"TheFutureasNightmare:

1.4FrameworkoftheReport
Thepracticereportofthistranslationconsistsoffourmainparts.Thefirstpartintroducesthebackgroundofthetranslationprojectandthecharacteristicsoftheoriginaltext.Thesecondpartistheprocessoftranslation,includingthepreparationbeforetranslation,theacquisitionoftranslationitems,thereadingandanalysisoftheoriginaltext,theselectionoftranslationstrategiesandmethods,theauxiliarytoolsandthetranslator'sdesignatedtranslationplan.Thethirdpartisthecharacteristiccaseanalysisoftranslation.Withrepresentativeexamples,itshowsthepracticalapplicationofvarioustranslationstrategies,includingliteraltranslationandfreetranslation.Thelastpart,asasummary,includestheguidancefunctionoffunctionalequivalencetheoryandcommunicativetranslationtheorytotranslators'translationarticles,includingthetranslator'swritingthroughtranslationpracticereport,whichisnotonlymorefamiliarwiththetranslationprocess,butalsohasanewunderstandingandunderstandingoftranslation.
