《土生子》是关国黑人文学家理查德·赖特(1908-1960年)的代表作此书之所以在关国文学或关国黑人文学中具有重要地位,一方而是由于这部小说主题的重大社会历史意义,即它以现实主义的方法揭露了关国社会存在的种族歧视和阶级压迫的严酷现实,另一方而就在于它成功塑造了“土生子”即小说主人公别格·托马斯这个黑人反抗、犯罪少年的典型艺术形象。
