Abstract:
Abalebaggingapparatusforwrappingabagaroundabaleofcompressedmaterialincludesabaseframememberhavingafirstendandasecondend,atransportationsystem,abalechuteandabagretrievalsystem.Thetransportationsystemisprovidedtotransportabalethroughthebalechutehavingabagforwrappingthebale.Additionally,thebalebaggingapparatushasthebagretrievalsystemtopositionabagfromafirstpositiontoasecondpositiontoathirdposition,whereinthethirdpositionanopenendofthebagispositionedaroundtheoutputendofthebalechutewhenthebaleistransportedbythetransportationsystemthroughthebalechute.

Thepresentdisclosuredescribesanembodimentofaninventiondirectedtoabaggingapparatusforbalesofcompressedmaterial,suchascotton,havingabaseframeparalleltoalongitudinalfeeddirection,aconveyorsystemcoupledtothebaseframe,abalefeedingstationatoneendofthebaseframemember,abalechutecoupledtothebaseframedownstreamofthebalefeedingstationalongthelongitudinalfeeddirection,abaggingstationcoupledtothebaseframememberbetweenthefirstandsecondendsafterthebalechute,agantryhavingagantrybeamcoupledtotopsectionsofverticalsupportsparallelthelongitudinalfeeddirectionbetweenthefirstandsecondendsofthebaseframemember,abalepusherhavingadrivingmechanismcoupledtothebaseframearrangedtomoveinthelongitudinalfeeddirection,andasealingmodulelocatedatthesecondendofthebaseframememberandamethodforbaggingthereof.
Theresultingbalebaggingapparatushasasimpleconstructionforeasyinstallationthatallowstheefficientandeasyplacementofabagaroundthebagchuteforbaggingabale.
Inaccordancewiththestructureofthedescribedembodiment,thebaggingstationislocateddownstreamofthebalechutealongthelongitudinalfeeddirectionbetweenthefirstandsecondendsofthebaseframemember.Thebaggingstationhasagantryandthesecondsectionandgapsectionoftheconveyorsystem,wheretheatleastonegapsectionisprovidedbetweensecondandthirdsectionsoftheconveyorsysteminthebaggingstation.Thegantryhasatleasttwoverticalsupportshavingtopsections,agantrybeamhavingendscoupledtothetopsectionsofthetwoverticalsupports,atrackcoupledtothegantrybeam,andaretrievaldevicemovablycoupledtothegantrybeam.Theverticalsupportsarepositionedtransverselyfromthebaseframemembersothatthegantryandretrievalassemblyispositionablealongthelongitudinalfeeddirectionandsecondgapsection.
Theretrievalassemblyisconfiguredtopick-upanopenendofthebagfromapalletofbagssothataclosedendofthebaghangsdownwardly.Theretrievaldevicecanthenmovefromafirstpositiontoasecondposition,wherethesecondpositionisapositionwheretheclosedendofthebagisalignedperpendicularlytothelongitudinalfeeddirectiontotheatleastonegapsection.Afterwhich,theretrievaldevicemovesinadirectiontransversetothelongitudinalfeeddirectionsothattheclosedendofthebagispositionedintheatleastonegapsection.Theopenendofthebagcanthenbemovedinthelongitudinaldirectionforwardlytowardsthebagchutetopositiontheopenendofthebagaroundthebalechute.
Thisinventivestructureallowsthestraighteningofthebagforplacementofthebagaroundthebalechuteinacompact,efficientarrangement.Bystraighteningthelengthofthebag,thebagisbetterpositionedtoreceivethebalefedintothebalechuteusingasimpleandeasytoinstallstructure.
Additionally,thesecondsectionoftheconveyorsystemcancompriserollersinclinedoutwardlyandupwardlyfromacenterpositionofthesecondsection.Byincliningtherollers,thebaggedbalefedfromthebalechuteonlycontactstherollersofthesecondsectionoftheconveyorsystemalongcornersofthebale.Sincethecornersofthebalearemostlycottonandthebottomsurfaceofthebaledoesnotdirectlycontacttherollers,damagetothebagfromthebailingwireorotherhardsurfacesismitigated.Additionally,thereislowerfrictionalresistanceforbaggingthebale.
Thenumerousadvantages,featuresandfunctionsofthevariousembodimentsoftheinventiondescribedhereinwillbecomereadilyapparentandbetterunderstoodinviewofthefollowingdescriptionandaccompanyingdrawings.Thefollowingdescriptionisnotintendedtolimitthescopeoftheapparatusforbaggingacottonbale,butinsteadmerelyprovidesexemplaryembodimentsforeaseofunderstanding.

Asgenerallydiscussedabove,priorartbalebaggingmachineshavecomplicateddesignsinvolvingmultiplemovingmechanicalpartsandcomplexstructuresthatrequirecarefulmaintenanceandthatarepronetomalfunction.Toovercomethisshortcoming,theembodimentsinthepresentdisclosureweredevelopedtocreateaneasytoinstallcottonbalebaggingmachinethatissimplertomanufactureefficientlyandcommerciallypractical.
Forexample,asseenin FIG.1,oneembodimentofthecottonbalebaggingmachine 100 includesabalefeedingstation 300 onafirstendofthecottonbalebaggingmachine 100,asealingmodule 800 onasecondendofthecottonbalebaggingmachine 100,abalechute 500,agantry 700,andabalebaggingstation600 betweenthefirstandsecondendsofthebalebaggingmachine 100,andaconveyorsystem 200 thatiscoupledtothebalefeedingstation 300,sealingmodule 800,andbalebaggingstation 600 inawaysuchthattheconveyorsystem 200 isusedtotransferabale,e.g.,cottonbale,inalongitudinalandlinearfeeddirectionfromthebalefeedingstation 300 tothesealingmodule 800.
Thecottonbalebaggingmachine 100 alsohasabaseandabottomframemember 105 atthebaseofthebalebaggingmachine 100 thatrunssubstantiallylinearlyinthelongitudinaldirectiontosupportthebalefeedingstation 300,thebalechute 500,thesealingmodule 800 andtheconveyorsystem 200.Oneendofthebottomframemember 105 ispositionednearthebalefeedingstation 300,whilethesecondendispositionedneareitherthesealingmodule 800 ornearthebalebaggingstation 600.Whenthesecondendofthebottomframemember 105ispositionednearthebalebaggingstation 600,thebottomframemember 105furthercomprisesasecondsectionforsupportingthesealingmodule 800.
Thebottomframemember 105 hasasolidorhollowbeamand/oratleasttwolinearbarsorbeamstocreateaframethathasthelinearbarsorbeamspositionedinparalleltothelongitudinalfeeddirectionandconnectedtransverselybyfeetforsupportingthebase.Thebottomframemember 105 ismadefromsteel,ferrousalloys,compositematerials,orothermaterialthatcanbeusedtosupportthestationsandbaleduringthebalebaggingoperation.

Theconveyorsystem 200 usesconventionalconveyorsknownintheart.Forexample,rollersareusedwhicharerotatablycoupledtoaframeortray.Therotatingrollerscanthenbeusedasaguidingmechanismtohelpmovethebaleinthedesireddirectionsbyhavingtherollersrotateinthetransverseandlongitudinaldirections.TherotatingrollerscanbemadefromTeflon,plastic,metal,orothermaterialthatfacilitatesthemovementofthebalealongthebalebaggingmachine 100.Additionally,theconveyorsystem 200 canalsousebelts,chains,and/orotherdrivingmechanismstomovethebaleinthelongitudinalandtransversedirections.
