SamuelLanghorneClemens,whoisbetterknownallovertheworldasMarkTwain,leftschoolwhenhewastwelve.Hehadlittleschooleducation.However,hestillbecamethemostfamouswriterofhistime.Hemademillionsofdollarsbywriting.

Afterhisfather’sdeath,MarkTwainbegantoworkforaprinter(印刷厂),whoonlyprovidedhimwithfoodandclothing.Then,heworkedasaprinter,ariver-boatpilot(引航员)andlaterjoinedthearmy.Butsoonafterthathebecameaminer.Duringthisperiod,hestartedtowriteshortstories.Afterwards(后来)hebecameafull-timewriter.
In1870,MarkTwaingotmarried.IntheyearsthatfollowedhewrotemanybooksincludingTomSawyerin1876,andHuckleberryFinnin1884,whichmadehimfamous,andbroughthimgreatfortune.
Unfortunately,MarkTwaingotintodebtsinbadinvestments(投资)andhehadtowritelargenumbersofstoriestopaythesedebts.In1904,hiswifedied,andthenthreeofhischildrenpassedaway.
Attheageof70,hishairwascompletelywhite.Heboughtmanywhitesuitsandneckties(领带).HeworeonlywhitefromheadtofootuntilhisdeathonApril21,1910.
