ManyServiceToolsTestsbeginwitha"live"screenallowingyoutovisuallycheckthesystemwithoutrunningthediagnosticroutine.The"live"screenallowsyoutoadjustthevehicleandseetheeffectsofchangesasyoumakethem.
Battery/Starting/ChargingMenu--Containstestsfortheelectricalsystem.
FuelSystemMenu--Providesemissiontestsforcarburetedandfuel-injectedvehicles.
IgnitionTestMenu--Providesdiagnostictoolsforcheckingtheprimary,secondaryandtimingsystemsonavehicle.
CylinderPowerMenu--Providesacylinderspeedandcontributiontests.
Multi-AnalyzerMenu--Providesmulti-meters,patternscopesandrecordingscopesfordigitalandoranalogwaveformanalysis.

一、BatteryTest
Overview
Thisroutineisdesignedtotestandreportontheconditionofany12-voltautomotivebattery.Thetestreportsthefollowingdata:
●AvailableCCA--(ColdCrankingAmps)fromthebattery.
●OpenCircuitVoltage--measuredatthebatterypositiveandnegativeterminals.
●LoadVoltage--measuredatthebatterypositiveandnegativeterminalswhilealoadisplacedonthebattery.
●Recoveryvoltage--measuredatthepositiveandnegativeterminalsduringaperiodoftimeaftertheloadisremovedfromthebattery.

TestProcedure
1.FollowthescreenpromptandtypeinthebatteryCCArating.Ifyouarenotsureofthebattery'srating,enterthenumbersperthechartbelow.

2.Thetestwillrunandtheresultsscreenwillappear(seeFigure3-1).Resultsingreenarewithinspecification.Resuitsinyellowaremarginal-nodiagnosticsareavailable.Resultsinredareaboveorbelowacceptableestablishedlimits.ResultsinwhitehavenodiagnosticsavailablebecauseVehicleSpecificationswerenotentered.

[F2]and[F4]arenotavailablekeysuntilbatteryrecoversfromloadappliedtoit.Whentimerreacheszerothekeyswillappear.
NOTE:
Ifnecessarytozerotheampprobe,makesuretheprobeisclampedaroundALLnegativebatteryleadswhenyoureplaceit!
Checkthearrowontheclampcarefully!
Probeisclampedcorrectlyaroundnegativeterminalwireswhenprobearrowpointstowardbattery.
DiagnosticTestProcedure
1.Fromthe"Live"screen,press[F2].Followthescreenpromptandruntheengineat2000RPM.Thegreenlineonthegraphrepresentsvoltage.Thegraylinerepresentsalternatoramps.
NOTE:
Ifthealternatorampsareover20,atimerwillappearonthescreen.Thetestmaythentakeuptothirtysecondstocomplete.
Theanalyzerwillthenplacealoadonthebatteryandthenallowthebatterytostabilize.
2.Followthenextscreenpromptandruntheengineatidle.Theanalyzerwillthenapplyaloadtothebattery.
Thediodepatternwillappearonthescreen(seeFigure3-3).
Press:
[F2]todisplaythe"Results"screen;
[F3]todisplaythe"ChargingLive"screen;
[F4]torepeatthetest.
ResultsScreen
WhenyoupressIF2]the"Results"screenappears(seeFigure3-4).
Thegraybarsrepresenttheactualreadings.Theyellowbarsonthe"Regulator"graphrepresentmarginalreadings.Foracceptableresults,thegraybarshouldappearwellinsidethegreenareaonbothgraphs.Thedigitalreadingsshownbelowthegraphswillalsoindicatewhethertheresuitsareacceptable.Readingsoutsidespecifiedlimitswillappearinred.
Theanalyzerthenpromptsyoutojudgethediodepattern.RefertoFigure3-5.
Press:
[Fl]toindicatetilediodepatternisgood;
[F3]toindicatetilediodepatternisbad;
[F5]toindicatethediodepatternisflat.
Agoodpatternwillshowregular,evenwaves,withsomevariationacceptable.Abadpatternhasunevenorirregularlyshapedwaves.Aflatpatternindicatesthealternatorisnotworkingatall.
Afteryouindicatethepatterncondition,press:
[F2]todisplaythediagnosticmessages;
[F10]toreturntothe"ServiceToolsMenu;"
[F12]toprintthetestreport.

1.Iftheengineisrunningwhenyoupress[F2],theanalyzerwillkilltheengine.Followthescreenprompt(seeFigure3-7)andcranktheengineuntilitstarts.

2.Aftertheignitionkeyis"ON,"presstheacceleratorpedalallthewaydown.Thiswillcausethecomputeronthesevehiclestoinhibitfuelflowbecauseitisputina"ClearFlood"mode.
3.Holdtheacceleratorpedalallthewaydownandcranktheengineuntiltheprompt"ENABLEFUELSYSTEM-STARTENGINE"appears.Theanalyzerthendisplaystheresultsonthescreen.Releasetheacceleratorpedalandcontinuecrankingtoallowtheenginetostart.
NOTE:
Iftheenginestartsbeforethe"Re-enableFuel"promptappears,releasetheacceleratorpedal,turntheignition"OFF"andrepeatthetest.
ForGMTBI(ThrottleBodyinjection)Vehicles:
1.Removetheinjectorcableattheinjector.Thesevehiclesarenotautomaticallydisabledwhenthethrottleiswideopen.Removetherubberorplasticairflowfilterovertheinjector,andthenunplugthecableconnectorattheinjector.
2.Cranktheengineuntilpromptedtore-enablethefuelsystem.Whenthetestresultsappearonthescreen,stopcranking.
3.Followthescreenpromptandre-connecttheinjectorandstarttheengine.
