ThesetwocountrieshavenetworksofseabedpressuredetectorsthatcanmonitortsunamisandindicatewhetherandwhereevacuationisnecessarydatatheysharewiththeirPacificneighbours.Asystemofsevendetectors,runfromHawaii,costabout$18mtodevelop,andtheexperiencegaineddoingsomeansasimilarsystemmightnowbehadforaslittleas$2m.So,tothesoundofstabledoorsbeingboltedfirmlyshut,politiciansinSouthEastAsiaandAustraliaareproposingonefortheIndianOcean.
