TheInternetbeganasaconnectionofafewgovernmentcomputersusedmainlyformilitary(军事的)purposes.Then,verybasicthingsbegantogrowoutofit:
suchasdownloadareasandsimplee-mail.WiththecreationofHTMLwhichcouldletyoujumpfromsitetositethroughlinks,“webbrowsers(浏览器)”werecreated.Thencamethefirstwebpagesandthefirstbitsofnewswhetherthenewswaspersonal,localornational.Theevolutionofonlinenewswasn’tslow.Infact,mostofthegrowthtookplacewithinasingleyear.
WiththequickandrecentinfluenceoftheInternet,itbecomesdifficulttodifferentiatebetweenthemoreestablishednewssourcesandtheonlinemedium.WeknowwecantrustsiteslikeMSNBCbecausetheyhaveanestablishednamealreadyintelevisionnews.But,withjournalistslikeMikeDrudge(whobroketheMonicaLewinksyscandal),hissitehasbeenconsideredmoreofa“rumorcenter”thanasourceforlegitimatenews.Yetthisdoesnotpreventpeoplefromusingthesites,asnewswebsitesofferthequickest,mostaccuratestatisticsonnewsstories.Usersneedtobecarefulaboutwhichsourcestheycanreallytrust,personalpagesorprofessionalones.
